I am feeling a little touchy, feel-y today so when I saw this article it went right along with that, and it also happens to be a great suggestion for the weekend! So here you are- a few facts about kissing!

1. Two out of every three couples turn their heads to the right when they kiss.

2. A simple peck uses two muscles; a passionate kiss, on the other hand, uses all 34 muscles in your face. Now that’s a rigorous workout!

3. Like fingerprints or snowflakes, no two lip impressions are alike.

4. Kissing is good for what ails you. Research shows that the act of smooching improves our skin, helps circulation, prevents tooth decay, and can even relieve headaches.

5. The average person spends 336 hours of his or her life kissing.

6. Ever wonder how an “X” came to represent a kiss? Starting in the Middle Ages, people who could not read used an X as a signature. They would kiss this mark as a sign of sincerity. Eventually, the X came to represent the kiss itself.

7. Talk about a rush! Kissing releases the same neurotransmitters in our brains as parachuting, bungee jumping, and running.

8. The average woman kisses 29 men before she gets married.

9. Men who kiss their partners before leaving for work average higher incomes than those who don’t.

10. The longest kiss in movie history was between Jane Wyman and Regis Tommey in the 1941 film, You’re in the Army Now. It lasted 3 minutes and 5 seconds. So if you’ve beaten that record, it’s time to celebrate!

Now thats a record I wouldn't mind chasing!

When's the last time you really just made out with your significant other? Go for it! Get out there and get smoochin' this weekend!

Lots of love to you,

Baby Gifts

A friend is having a baby and she has so many adorable things on her baby registry! Take a look at this one from Babies "R" Us!

I think nightlights are really sweet and I especially love when they project something cool- like stars- around the room. I have seen variations of this before but I have never seen a constelation nightlight incorporated into a plush toy. To those of you who are already Moms this might be old hat, but I think it is just Darling!

Maybe one day in the not too distant future there will be little human babies in the works for Mr. R and me.

Better go get to workin' on that!

Attitude IS Everything

I got the below story in an email from my Aunt. She said it made her think of me, my Mom, and Sisters. I was so flattered because I really try to live my life with a positive attitude, and believe that positivity makes a difference. Is it hard sometimes? Yes. But attitude is everything! You CAN have a great life no matter what your circumstance, you just have to see it that way!

Enjoy...

"John is the kind of guy you love to hate. He is always in a good mood and always has something positive to say. When someone would ask him how he was doing, he would reply, 'If I were any better, I would be twins!' He was a natural motivator. If an employee was having a bad day, John was there telling the employee how to look on the positive side of the situation.

Seeing this style really made me curious, so one day I went up and asked him, 'I don't get it!' 'You can't be a positive person all of the time. How do you do it?

'He replied, 'Each morning I wake up and say to myself, you have two choices today. You can choose to be in a good mood or...you can choose to be in a bad mood I choose to be in a good mood.' Each time something bad happens, I can choose to be a victim or...I can choose to learn from it. I choose to learn from it. Every time someone comes to me complaining, I can choose to accept their complaining or...I can point out the positive side of life. I choose the positive side of life.

'Yeah, right, it's not that easy,' I protested. 'Yes, it is,' he said. 'Life is all about choices. When you cut away all the junk, every situation is a choice. You choose how you react to situations. You choose how people affect your mood. You choose to be in a good mood or bad mood. The bottom line: It's your choice how you live your life.'

I reflected on what he said. Soon hereafter, I left the Tower Industry to start my own business. We lost touch, but I often thought about him when I made a choice about life instead of reacting to it.

Several years later, I heard that he was involved in a serious accident, falling some 60 feet from a communications tower. After 18 hours of surgery and weeks of intensive care, he was released from the hospital with rods placed in his back. I saw him about six months after the accident.

When I asked him how he was, he replied, 'If I were any better, I'd be twins...Wanna see my scars?' I declined to see his wounds, but I did ask him what had gone through his mind as the accident took place.

'The first thing that went through my mind was the well-being of my soon-to-be born daughter,' he replied. 'Then, as I lay on the ground, I remembered that I had two choices: I could choose to live or....I could choose to die. I chose to live.'

'Weren't you scared? Did you lose consciousness?' I asked.

He continued, '...the paramedics were great. They kept telling me I was going to be fine. But when they wheeled me into the ER and I saw the expressions on the faces of the doctors and nurses, I got really scared. In their eyes, I read 'he's a dead man'. I knew I needed to take action.' 'What did you do?' I asked. 'Well, there was a big burly nurse shouting questions at me,' said John. 'She asked if I was allergic to anything 'Yes, I replied.' The doctors and nurses stopped working as they waited for my reply. I took a deep breath and yelled, 'Gravity'' Over their laughter, I told them, 'I am choosing to live. Operate on me as if I am alive, not dead.'

He lived, thanks to the skill of his doctors, but also because of his amazing attitude....I learned from him that every day we have the choice to live fully. Attitude, after all, is everything.

Wandering Minds

Hello My Sweets! I know I have been gone for a long time. I guess my mind has been wandering a little lately and as it turns out, according to a story in Aug 30th's LA Times by Melissa Healy, it may have been super good for me. Here is a little excerpt...

"Just as sleep appears to play an important role in learning, memory consolidation and maintaining the body's metabolic function, some scientists wonder whether unstructured mental time — time to zone out and daydream — might also play a key role in our mental well-being. If so, that's a cautionary tale for a society that prizes productivity and takes a dim view of mind-wandering.

Such social pressure, Schooler says, overlooks the lessons from
studies on the resting brain — that zoning out and daydreaming, indulged in at
appropriate times, might serve a larger purpose in keeping us healthy and
happy.

"People have this fear of being inadequately engaged, and as a consequence
they overlook how engaging their own minds can be," Schooler says. "Each one of
us can be pretty good company to ourselves if we allow our minds to go
there."

So, even though I may have been gone for a while, rest assured that I have been enjoying my own company! Now I hope to be back and to be able to enjoy the company of all of you as well!
Lots of Love,

Moving on up

In honor of all of the moving I have been doing lately I thought I would present you with some "moving" quotes for the day...

We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we're curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths. -Walt Disney

Love one another, but make not a bond of love: Let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls. -Kahlil Gibran

If what you are doing is not moving you towards your goals, then it's moving you away from your goals. -Brian Tracy

Have no fear of moving into the unknown. Simply step out fearlessly knowing that I am with you, therefore no harm can befall you; all is very, very well. Do this in complete faith and confidence. -Pope John Paul II

The present is the ever moving shadow that divides yesterday from tomorrow. In that lies hope. -Frank Lloyd Wright

The great thing in the world is not so much where we stand, as in what direction we are moving. -Oliver Wendell Holmes

Common sense and a sense of humor are the same thing, moving at different speeds. A sense of humor is just common sense, dancing. -William James

What's Important...

"The power of unconditional love. I mean, there is no power on earth like unconditional love. And I think that if you offered that to your child, I mean, you’re 90 percent of the way home. There may be days when you don’t feel like it — it’s not uncritical love; that’s a different animal — but to know you can always come back, that is huge in life. That takes you a long, long way. And I would say that every parent out there that can extend that to their child at an early age, it’s going to make for a better human being."

- Warren Buffet on the best advice he ever received

Pep in your step??

So I am having a little problem these last few days putting any "pep in my step" or keeping up the positive attitude. In fact, I have had very low patience and a quick temper lately. It's a good thing I don't carpool because I do not like to curse in front of anyone (not that I condemn it in others- I LOVE the way Caitlin over at Snarkoholic disguises her bad words) but I just can't manage to hold my tongue on my morning commute!

Not to fear My Lovelies, there is nothing seriously wrong I am just very tired and don't have any rest in site for a while until my upcoming Birthday (yay!) in a couple of weeks.

However, I am a big proponent of "faking it until you make it". Don't look down your nose at this thought immediately. I really think it works. If you force yourself to smile, you have to start thinking about being happy and before too long- you are! So with that thought in mind I have collected a few funny or inspirational quotes to help all of us when we are having to put a little more effort into keeping a positive attitude. Hope you enjoy!

The man who smiles when things go wrong has found someone to blame it on.
-Robert Bloch
A happy person is not a person in a certain set of circumstances but rather a person with a certain set of attitudes.
-Hugh Downs
After 12 years of therapy my psycharitrist said something that brought tears to my eyes. He said, "No hablo ingles".
-unknown
"We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars."
-Oscar Wilde
"All my life I wanted to be somebody. Now I realize that I should have been more specific."
-Lily Tomlin
"Why is it that when we talk to God we're said to be praying, but when God Talks to us we're schizophrenic?"
-Lily Tomlin
"Love is like a booger. You keep picking at it until you get it, then wonder what to do with it."
-Unknown

Lastly, but definitely not least, if you didn't check out Snarks by clicking the link above check her out here. You should read her. She really is very funny!

For all of life's journeys...

Remember when you go into the world to keep your eyes and ears wide open. And be kind. Love one another. Take care of eachother. Tell the truth. Always do your best. Listen to the big people and the little people. Explore new paths and have fun. Know that you are loved like crazy. Give thanks for all your blessings. Above all else, love and you will do wonderful things in this world.
