This inspires me..

Now I already know the world is basically good, but this site "gives me hope" and makes me want to be a better person. Below are a couple of examples of their stories:

I went to Africa to help build an Orphan school when I saw a kid sitting on his own. I walked up and gave him half of my sandwich, and he ran away. Secretly following him around the corner, I saw him break it into small pieces and share it with his whole class of 20.

Sharing the little he had GMH.

Today my 7 year old daughter gave my 5 year old son a kiss on the cheek. After she walked away, I saw him rubbing the spot where she had kissed him. I asked if he was wiping the kiss off. He said "no, I'm rubbing it in so it gets to my heart faster."

Siblings that truly love each other GMH!

(I found this through my sister's great blog LaceyInTheCity. Thanks Sistah Friend!)

Love notes from Husbands- then & now

1810

My golden child, my pearl, my precious stone, my crown, my queen and empress. You dear darling of my heart, my highest and most precious, my all and everything, my wife, the baptism of my children, my tragic play, my posthumous reputation. Ach! You are my second better self, my virtues, my merits, my hope, the forgiveness of my sins, my future sanctity, O little daughter of heaven, my child of God, my intercessor, my guardian angel, my cherubim and seraph, how I love you!

-Henry von Kleist was a German dramatist and poet. He wrote this to Adolfine Henriette Vogel.

For all of life's journeys...

Remember when you go into the world to keep your eyes and ears wide open. And be kind. Love one another. Take care of eachother. Tell the truth. Always do your best. Listen to the big people and the little people. Explore new paths and have fun. Know that you are loved like crazy. Give thanks for all your blessings. Above all else, love and you will do wonderful things in this world.

Current Obsession

Love these!!!
They are so incredibly comfy!

Tuesday...

eh...it's not really the greatest day.
"In the Greek world, Tuesday (the day of the week of the Fall of Constantinople) is considered an unlucky day. The same is true in the Spanish-speaking world, where a proverb runs: En martes, ni te cases ni te embarques, meaning, "On Tuesday, neither get married nor begin a journey." For both Greeks and Spanish-speakers, the 13th of the month is considered unlucky if it falls on Tuesday, instead of Friday. In Judaism, on the other hand, Tuesday is considered a particularly lucky day, because in the first chapter of Genesis the paragraph about this day contains the phrase "it was good" twice."

Sorry for the downer, but if you're Jewish its all good!

Random Thoughts for Monday Morning

1. Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you're wrong.

2. I totally take back all of those times I didn't want to nap when I was younger.

3 . Map Quest really needs to start their directions on #5. I'm pretty sure I know how to get out of my neighborhood.

4 . Obituaries would be a lot more interesting if they told you how the Person died.

5 . I can't remember the last time I wasn't at least kind of tired.

6 . You never know when it will strike, but there comes a moment at work when you know that you just aren't going to do anything productive for the rest of the day.

7. I'm always slightly terrified when I exit out of Word and it asks me if I want to save any changes to my ten-page research paper that I swear I did not make any changes to.

8. "Do not machine wash or tumble dry" means I will never wash this - ever.

9 . I hate when I just miss a call by the last ring (Hello? Hello? Damn it!), but when I immediately call back, it rings nine times and goes to voice mail. What did you do after I didn't answer? Drop the phone and run away?

10. I hate leaving my house confident and looking good and then not seeing anyone of importance the entire day. What a waste!

11. I keep some people's phone numbers in my phone just so I know not to answer when they call.

12 . I disagree with Kay Jewelers. I would bet on any given Friday or Saturday night more kisses begin with Tequila than Kay.

13. The only time I look forward to a red light is when I'm trying to finish a text.

14. I have a hard time deciphering the fine line between boredom and hunger.

15. Shirts get dirty. Underwear gets dirty. Pants? Pants never get dirty, and you can wear them forever.

16. Is it just me or do high school kids get dumber & dumber every year?

17 . Sometimes I'll look down at my watch 3 consecutive times and still not know what time it is.
18. How many times is it appropriate to say "What?" before you just nod and smile because you still didn't hear or understand a word they said?

19. Even under ideal conditions people have trouble locating their car keys in a pocket, finding their cell phone, and Pinning the Tail on the Donkey - but I'd bet my ass everyone can find and push the snooze button from 3 feet away, in about 1.7 seconds, eyes closed, first time, every time!

Anyway (A Poem by St. Teresa)

This poem was written by Mother Teresa and is engraved on the wall of her home for children in Calcutta:

People are often unreasonable, illogical, and self-centred;
Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives;
Be kind anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies;
Succeed anyway.

If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you;
Be honest and frank anyway.

What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight;
Build anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous;
Be happy anyway.

The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow;
Do good anyway.

Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough;
Give the world the best you've got anyway.

You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and God;
It was never between you and them anyway.

"A man doesn't learn to be a 'real man' from other men. It takes the love of a good woman for him to truely become that."

Now I like just about all holidays, but does it get any better than this?!

Happy National Donut Day!!!

I always knew The Salvation Army was great, but the fact that they declared the 1st Friday in June this holiday just bumped them up another notch in my book!
